Sharing project design and lesson planning to advocate for fostering creativity in all learners.

Teaching Intentionally

While I am currently a middle school science teacher, I came into the profession working closely with children with additional needs in outdoor education. I have been a reading teacher and am an advocate for finding ways that multilingual learners can access high-quality science. This website is set up to share ideas with fellow educators about questioning, creative problem solving, and accessing curriculum in fun, engaging ways. Join me in designing creativity!

Emphasis on Access

Many students are multilingual learners or need extra support to read, speak, and understand complex vocabulary in science and other subjects. For teachers of older students, it can be challenging to find the time and energy to support language development while also teaching required content. This blog will share ideas about phonics, vocabulary groups, and ways to support reading so students can better access content across subjects.

Where we go from here

bell hooks once said, “The classroom remains the most radical space of possibility in the academy.”

As educators, we have a responsibility to impart knowledge to our students, and the opportunity to do it in a way that ignites passion, includes diversity, and sparks our own learning along the way.
